Mission Statement:“Dominic’s
Dream” was originally conceived by Father Dominic Baffour-Akowuah in
the early 1990’s for the sole purpose of providing progressive,
quality educational opportunities for the children of Ampabame II
School in Ampabame, located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.
Ampabame is Fr. Dominic's hometown. Father
attended elementary school in the same educational facility in Ampabame
that he now intends to replace with a new school.
Fr. Dominic’s dream of affording this
educational opportunity was later furthered through the creation in
2001 of the Baanu Ye Na Education Fund, so-named by
Fr. Dominic and which, as translated, means “to be two is a
treasure”.

Father Dominic believes that a
quality education gives a student the means to not only help himself
or herself, but the community at large. The Ghanaian workforce is
eager to be productive, but many do not have a quality education.
Therefore, our small effort in changing the way of life of these
children will pay big dividends over the longer term.
For some time now, Father Dominic has
been putting together plans for a Catholic elementary school in his
village in Ghana. The village has provided five acres of land on
which to build the school. Father Dominic has the full support of
local authorities and the Ghanaian government.
The total cost to build the school as
contemplated by Father Dominic will be in the general range of
$50,000 U.S. dollars, of which $5,000 has already been collected
this year through the generosity and prayerful giving of Father
Dominic’s friends here in the U.S.
It should also be duly noted that the
construction of this school will result in a positive economic
impact in the area surrounding Father Dominic’s hometown, given the
need for construction, employment and bringing in additional job
opportunities for individuals who are interested in having good
schools available. Overall, the impact of this project could be
immense and touch the lives of a large number of Ghanaians in the
Ashanti Region.
